24 in Twenty-10 Scripture Memory: Verse #24

Merry Christmas, sweet friends!

If you are reading this and you have come to then end of the “24 in Twenty-10 Scripture Memory Challenge” then I’m sending out a big CONGRATULATIONS to you!  Well done, girls!!  It has not been easy, but sooo worth the effort as you’ve  no doubt seen the beautiful fruit that memorizing Scripture has produced in you.  I hope and pray that this challenge has become a new habit for each of you and that you will continue the practice of storing up God’s treasured Word in your hearts.

My final Scripture for the year is another of my all-time favorites from Philippians 3:12-14…

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the price for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14

A word we can all use as we head into the New Year- reflecting on the past year with its highlights and lowlights, but not dwelling there.  Learn from the experiences in the year gone by, make the necessary changes, forgive, love and heal where you need to… and then move ahead… pressing on with your eyes and heart firmly fixed on Christ.  He is so worth it!

Jesus… “Yahweh Saves”!  His name is His mission!

I pray that each of you have the most wonderful Christmas and that you will take time to be still and to know your Emanuel, your Savior, your Jesus, the Lord God Almighty who was, and is, and is to come.

Pressing on in His unfailing love,

xo – P

PS:  Stay tuned for a new challenge in 2011… details to come!!

24 in Twenty-10 Scripture Memory: Verse #23

Merry Christmas!  I will officially say that now since it’s December 1st. Though the over-zealous in my ‘hood have had their halls, houses and yards decked to the nines since early November… it is only, really, now, officially the “Christmas Season” (for crying out loud).

So I’ll say, again, Merry Christmas!

WELL CAN YOU BELIEVE WE ARE DOWN TO OUR LAST MONTH OF SCRIPTURE MEMORY??!!??!!  The year has flown, but now you can say, along with the Psalmist, “I have stored up your word in my heart…” (Psalm 119:11, ESV).  And quite a storehouse of Scripture it is!  23 verses and one more to go!  I’m so dang proud of each one of you who have taken the challenge to commit to this practice.

My verse for today is from Isaiah 52… and rather appropriate for the (now official) Christmas Season.  Lest we forget… our Savior of the World was announced long before the angels broadcast the news to a bunch of middle-eastern shepherds in the middle of the night.  The pages of Isaiah contain more prophecy heralding the coming of Christ than any other book of the Bible.  These are the verses that I love to pour over during the Advent Season in preparation for Christmas day.  These are the words that our forefathers and mothers in the faith clung to; words many put their hope in but never saw come to pass in their earthly lifetime, but who came face-to-face with in their eternal lives – Glory to God!  Even as I write this I am overcome with emotion and tears at the thought of the precious Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world… and the reason He came.  Here’s one of my favorites…

Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”

I pray that you will take time during this Christmas Advent Season to ponder anew the Good News of what the Almighty has done for you.  Without the Cradle there would be no Cross.

In His unfailing love,
